PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink end detector and an inkjet recorder capable of lowering running cost and enhancing cost-effectiveness by reducing an amount of wasteful ink residual to be as small as possible, and eliminating recording media which must be discarded. SOLUTION: The ink end detector includes a buffer part in which ink fed into an ink channel from an ink cartridge flows and from which the ink is fed to an ejection head, and also whose predetermined capacity to store the ink is changed with pressure change of the ink channel, and a sensor which detects a predetermined value in the capacity change of the buffer part. When the sensor detects the predetermined value, whether or not to complete printing is determined based on a residual amount of the ink in the buffer part when the sensor detects the value, and use amount of the ink from information on a print image to be printed. If printing is to be completed, printing is continued with the ink in the buffer part, and if printing is not to be completed, replacement of the ink cartridge is informed.
