Disclosed are a hydroxyphenyl ketone binaphthol derivative denoted by chemical formula 1, and an optical resolution method of racemic amino acids using the same. The hydroxyphenyl ketone binaphthol derivative of the present invention has a remarkably superior chiral selectivity compare to existing binaphthol derivatives, thereby being practically used in chiral selective liquid-liquid extraction of amino acids, and has excellent solubility for improving usage convenience.
