The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display device having a display panel in which data lines and gate lines cross and liquid crystal cells are arranged in a matrix form, and to a method for driving the same. Whenever a frame is changed, the display device supplies data signals to the data lines by reversing a polarity of a voltage to charge the liquid crystal cells with the voltage of the polarity opposite to the polarity of the voltage charged during a previous frame period. On the other hand, the display device supplies data signals to charge the liquid crystal cells of certain lines among a plurality of lines which are continued at least in one direction among the column direction lines and the row direction lines of a liquid crystal cell matrix, with voltages having different polarities in 1-dot unit, and to charge the liquid crystal cells of other lines with voltages having different polarities in a 3-dot unit. |
