Safety control in combination with cloud computing

The method involves accepting safety-oriented input signals from an industrial-technical process (S1) by a control device, and transferring the input signals to a cloud (S2) using a fail-safe protocol over a link to a computer network. Specific safety-oriented control signals are received (S3) from the cloud via the link. A decision is made (S4) to check whether the control signals determined by the cloud are recognized as correct. The process is controlled (S5) according to the control signals based on a decision result. The process is placed into a safe state (S6) in a fail-safe manner. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a control program comprising a set of instructions for executing a method for operating a control device (2) a control device for controlling an industrial-technical process.
