The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for editing a video based on an object. The present invention includes: a photographing unit which produces the video; an object setting unit which sets an editing object and editing information of the editing object from a previously stored editing object video or a different image according to the operation of a user by driving a video editing application; and a video editing unit which tracks the editing object in the editing object video or the photographing video and automatically edits the tracked editing object according to the editing information.
