1133058 Sintering hoods; preventing corrosion BERGWERKSVERBAND GmbH 16 Aug 1967 [26 Aug 1966] 37672/67 Headings C5G and G10A Road-making aggregates are produced from separated dry boiler-furnace ashes in a continuous sintering furnace, the fire-box discharge cone 1 of the boiler 2 serving as the ignition hood for the conveyer 4 of the sintering furnace. Before passing under the ignition hood, the conveyer is covered with a layer of return feed R from supply means 7, and a layer of flyash pellets P from a pelletizer (not shown) through supply shoot 5. An upper layer of firebox ashes FA is fed through the discharge cone 1. Finely divided dolomite may be injected into the furnace gases, both to act as a desulphurizer, and to improve the quality of the sintered product.
