PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable not only fine dust to be primarily and preferably sucked but also coarse dust to be improvingly sucked in a vacuum cleaner, particularly in a vacuum cleaner nozzle, in which the cleaner is provided with a nozzle edge which is attached for cleaning a floor and formed of a closing member extending in a nozzle edge direction while forming the periphery of a suction opening. SOLUTION: The closing member 16 is shifted from a first closing position to a second closing position only when a running direction is changed. During the shift, a blocking range G for the coarse dust is open. The shift is made in an working district corresponding to a suction opening width (b) or narrower inside the running direction.
