In core-taking apparatus in which an inner tube assembly 10 is attached to an outer tube assembly 200 carrying a core bit 12 by latches 16 pivoted to a latch body 26 and engaging a recess 21a in the assembly 200, a latch release tube 27 is movable in the direction of the arrow 90 to release the latches and carries a pin 75 which holds the latches extended as shown.
