PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive method and drive device capable of driving a load of a lamp or the like so that inrush current exceeding a control target value does not flow. SOLUTION: The drive method on/off-controls a switching device for connecting/disconnecting a lamp and a battery, repeats the supply/interception of current to the lamp at a certain cycle, and thereafter drives a lamp, wherein time t for the inrush current flowing to the lamp to reach a target value is obtained, a cycle T is decided assuming that the obtained time t is the maximum time in one cycle during which power is supplied to the lamp, and the switching device is on/off-controlled based on the maximum time t and the decided cycle T.
