The present invention relates to a carbon dioxide capturing device which removes metallic ions from an absorber to prevent a degradation caused by an oxidation of the absorber, and an operating method thereof. An embodiment of the present invention provides the carbon dioxide capturing device which comprises the following: an absorption column producing a carbon dioxide saturated absorber containing carbon dioxide by bringing the absorber into countercurrent contact with an exhaust gas containing carbon dioxide; a stripping column regenerating the absorber by separating the carbon dioxide from the carbon dioxide saturated absorber; and a chelate resin column preventing the degradation of the absorber by selectively removing the metallic ions from the absorber regenerated from the stripping column.
