The present invention relates to an electrolyte and a lithium secondary battery comprising the same, which contain a compound represented by chemical formula 1 as an electrolyte additive. In the chemical formula 1: R is an alkyl group of 2-10 carbons; X is a halogen group; and l and m are independent integers of 1-5, and l+m is 2-6. The electrolyte improves the overcharging prevention properties of the lithium secondary battery, improves battery properties, especially high temperature capacity, and prevents the generation of gas.
