Disclosed are a hybrid steering system and a control method thereof. The hybrid steering system includes: an MDPS module which comprises a first torsion bar connected to a steering wheel shaft on the rear end of a steering wheel, a first torque sensor for measuring the torque of a first torsion bar, and an MDPS motor for applying torque to the steering wheel shaft; an EHPS module which comprises a second torsion bar connected to the steering wheel shaft on the rear end of the MDPS module and a hydraulic device which applies steering output using hydraulic pressure according to the twist of the second torsion bar; and a control unit which applies output from the MDPS motor and the hydraulic device to the steering wheel shaft by controlling the torque of the MDPS motor and the steering output of the hydraulic device according to vehicle speeds or steering angles. |
