<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection device which enables a user to easily and accurately adjust focus while viewing a projected image. <P>SOLUTION: When focus is adjusted by predetermined operation, distance to a screen is measured (steps B11 to B14), focusing distance is acquired on the basis of a position of a projection lens which moves in an optical axis direction according to the above adjusting operation (step B15), and a present focal state is detected by comparing both of the measured distance and acquired focusing distance (step B16). During such operation, an image to be an object of focal adjustment is displayed, and predetermined display variation is applied to the projection screen of the image when the focal state is detected (steps B16 to B20).
