<p>A captive bolt gun for use in the humane slaughter of animals comprising a loading bar A, a barrel B, a bolt shaft C, and outer tube D, a trigger E, front and back tub supports G, J and a bolt. The loading bar engages with the bolt centred in the bolt shaft and draws the bolt shaft rearward in the barrel which then engages with the trigger. Once engaged on the trigger, the bolt is held under compressed energy. On release of the trigger, the stored energy forces the bolt and bolt shaft forward. The method of energy source will preferably be spring like in nature and may include springs, elastic bands, or a motor. The outer tube will preferably act as a protective cover and creates a chamber of air around the energy source. The energy source will also be interchangeable. The chamber of air will also preferably be heated to aid the energy source to work within its tolerances.</p> |
