The cooking device (12a) has six heating elements (20a,21a,22a,23a,24a,25a) which are provided on each cooking plate (14a) within a base (13a), to heat a common heating zone. A control unit (16a) controls the actuator units (30a) around the heating elements, to control the movement of heating elements along lines (50a,51a,52a) parallel to each other. A sensing unit (40a) provides sensing values indicating inductive characteristic of each heating element. An independent claim is included for method for controlling induction cooking device.
