590,165. Hot-water &c. boilers. DETREZ, R. March 12, 1942, No. 3281. Convention date, Nov. 15, 1940. [Class 64 (i)] A boiler is partitioned into separate non- communicating compartments 2, 3, 4 with a common firebox 1 and flue system 1a, and in addition either separate return tubes for the combustion gases or, as shown, separate water tubes 7, 8, 9 extending through the common firebox and flue system, so that one or several liquids can be directly and simultaneously heated in the several compartments to different temperatures obtained by varying the liquid capacities and/or the heating surfaces of the compartments. In a form not shown, the partitions extend longitudinally and divide the boiler into a central and two lateral compartments, and the combustion gases, after flowing rearwardly below the central compartment, pass forwardly again through tubular flues extending through the boiler compartments. The boiler may form part of apparatus for sterilizing or washing bottles, or for other purposes. Specification 223,551, [Class 123 (ii)], is referred to.
