The movable contact 29 of a contact breaker of an ignition distributor is carried by a conductive strap 25 riveted to an insulating heel 19, e.g. of resin, said heel 19 having integral resilient arms 22 pivotally mounting said heel on an upstanding post 31 and an integral cam follower 21 with a convex bearing surface 32 co-operable with the cam 13a on the shaft 13, the axially extending surface of the cam 13a being tangential to surface 32 in an axial direction. Fixed contact 18 and post 31 are carried by a plate 16 which is angularly adjustable about the axis of post 31 relative to a plate 15 to adjust the operating gap of the contacts a,portion of post 31 engaging plate 15. Plate 15 can be angularly adjusted about the axis of shaft 13 to vary the ignition timing. When the heel arms 22 engage post 31, they flex outwardly and by their resilience grip post 31 at three flats 24 only, gaps 24a forming grease reservoirs. The free end of post 31 is spread over heel 19. Arms 22 may be circular or elliptical. One or three projections (33) on the lower surface of heel 19 space the latter from plate 16. In a modification, post 31 may be secured to plate 15 and extend the through plate 16 to pivotally interconnect the plates. Plate 15 may be fixed to the casing 11.</p> |
