590,199. Reciprocating pumps. FAWCETT, PRESTON, & CO., Ltd., and RHODES, A. Dec. 19, 1944, No. 25442. Addition to 551,384. [Class 102 (i)] In a pump as described in the parent Specification the swash-plate is loaded by a spring composed of several sections, each section comprising a combination of springs or Belleville washers, or springs and Belleville washers 23a arranged as a number of stages each arranged in a separate housing 23b. The end housing has a rounded head 22a that bears against a hardened plate 20a carried by the swash-plate. As the load is applied to the springs, the weaker stages are relieved of stress. The maximum inclination of the swash-plate is limited by an adjustable stop 43. Lubrication is effected from a bore 33a in the driving shaft that is connected to the inlet of the impeller pump feeding the reciprocating pump. The pump plungers 6 are recessed to house a spring to retain the plungers in contact with the swash-plate. The spherical heads 6a carry shoes 6b and have vent holes 6c td prevent the formation of air locks in the pump cylinders. |
