PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing &pgr;-conjugated polymer product material that can produce &pgr;-conjugated polymer product material by polymerizing a polymerizable compound capable of forming &pgr;-conjugated polymer by polymerization in a hydrophobic solvent.SOLUTION: In a method for producing &pgr;-conjugated polymer product material according to the present invention, &pgr;-conjugated polymer product material is obtained by using a polymerizable compound capable of forming &pgr;-conjugated polymer by polymerization, organometallic compound and hydrophobic solvent and polymerizing the polymerizable compound in the hydrophobic solvent.
