PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a tire of which low fuel cost, abrasion resistance and workability are improved in a good balance, and to provide a pneumatic tire using the same.SOLUTION: A rubber composition for a tire contains a rubber constituent, silica, a silane coupling agent containing a mercapto group, and a polysulfide compound represented by the formula (I) and/or (II) and the rubber constituent is a styrene-butadiene rubber and/or a polyisoprene rubber. In the formula (I), Ris same or different and represents a monovalent hydrocarbon group containing 3 to 15 carbon atoms which may have a substituent and n represents an integer of 2 to 6. In the formula (II), Ris same or different and represents a bivalent hydrocarbon group having 3 to 15 carbon atoms which may have a substituent and m represents an integer of 2 to 6. |
