PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display and operation device that reliably prevents an optical element including a light emitting section and a light receiving section from malfunctioning owing to backlight without using a light shield for providing a shield from backlight.SOLUTION: The display and operation device, in which a planar display configured to be illuminated by a backlight and the optical element including the light emitting section and the light receiving section are arranged on a common plane, includes timing control means for controlling light emission driving timings such that light emission times of the backlight and the light emitting section do not overlap each other. |
