PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing butanol using a butanol-producing microorganism that produces metabolites including butanol not in conjunction with growth, to substantially improve the production (yield) of butanol based on the input substrate.SOLUTION: The method includes a step of temporally supplying electrons to butanol-producing microorganism 2 which is producing metabolite 7 including butanol not in conjunction with growth while consuming substrate 3, through an electron mediator 5 which can be both oxidant and reductant. Supply of electrons can be carried out by, for example, immersing electrode 9 in culture medium 4 containing the substrate 3, the butanol-producing microorganism 2 and the electron mediator 5 and applying a reduction potential to the electrode 9. |
