PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focus control device in which increased speed and increased accuracy of focus control are made compatible.SOLUTION: In a digital camera including an imaging optical system 201 including a focus lens that focuses on a subject, a driving part 205 for causing the focus lens to move, an imaging element 206, a first focus detection part 207 that performs focus detection by a phase difference system, and a second focus detection part 208 that performs focus detection by a contrast system, after travel of the focus lens is started on the basis of a result of focus detection by the first focus detection part 207, a travel speed of the focus lens is decreased, focus detections are performed concurrently by the first focus detection part 207 and the second focus detection part 208, and after decreasing travel speed of the focus lens, focus detection is performed by the second focus detection part 208, whereby the imaging optical system 201 is made in a focus state to the subject. |
