PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium feeding device or the like capable of properly detecting an end part of a recording medium (running out of cloth) to be sent with tension applied thereto.SOLUTION: A medium feeding device includes a feeding unit for feeding a recording medium W wound around a feeding core 141 in a roll state, a medium feeding mechanism for sending the fed recording medium W along a feeding path, a rod frame 43 provided above the feeding unit to guide feeding of the fed recording medium W, a rotary unit 37 for applying tension to the recording medium W between the feeding unit and the rod frame 43, and an optical sensor 142 provided at a position facing an end part of the recording medium W hanging down from the feeding core 141 to detect the existence/absence of the recording medium W. |
