PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly reduce recovery print time while suppressing wear prevention of an image carrier.SOLUTION: In entire contact mode, an intermediate transfer belt 32 is brought into contact with all of four photoreceptors 31. In partial contact mode, the intermediate transfer belt 32 is brought into contact with only a photoreceptor (31Bk) for black toner. As a method of deciding an image forming mode, a first decision method is selected until a print job is interrupted. In recovery printing, a second decision method is selected when at least one color image exists in a page on which an image is to be formed. In other cases, the first decision method is selected. In the fist decision method, if the image to be formed on the image formation page is a color image/monochrome image, the entire contact mode/partial contact mode is set, respectively. In the second decision method, the entire contact mode is set for all the image formation pages. |
