The device has a sensor (8), which is acoustically coupled to an engine (1) for detecting noise. A filter device is provided to filter a specified range of frequency spectrum of the noise for generating progression of a signal (17). The filter device is designed as a band-pass filter for filtering a frequency range at a middle frequency. An identifiable standard signal progression e.g. cyclic standard signal progression, is stored in a storage device, where the signal progression is compared with the standard signal progression for detecting an interference of the device. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting signal progression of operation noise in an internal combustion engine. |
