PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical component in which an optical fiber is connected to a waveguide type optical element in which a space such as air generated between an optical waveguide end face and an optical fiber end face of the waveguide type optical element is prevented.SOLUTION: An optical connection component 100 includes: an optical fiber 101; an optical fiber connection member 102 to which the optical fiber 101 is fixed; and a waveguide type optical element 110 to which the optical fiber connection member 102 is connected. In the waveguide type optical element 110, an optical waveguide 112 is provided on a substrate 111. In order to increase a connection area between the waveguide type optical element 110 and the optical fiber connection member 102, in the waveguide type optical element 110, a glass block 113 may be provided on the optical waveguide 112. The optical fiber connection member 102 and the waveguide type optical element 110 are bonded with an adhesive agent 103. In the optical connection component 100, at a connection surface 102A between the optical fiber connection member 102 and the waveguide type optical element 110, a spacer 102B is provided around an end face 101A of the optical fiber 101. |
