PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting magnet and a spool which can suppress occurrence of quench due to Lorentz force effectively.SOLUTION: A superconducting magnet includes a superconducting coil 50 and a spool. The spool includes shanks 12, 20 having cylindrical outer peripheral surface on which a superconducting wire rod 52 composing the superconducting coil 50 is wound, and flanges 14A, 30A, 14B, 30B located at both ends of the shanks 12, 20 in the axial direction. At least one of the shanks and flanges include magnetizable parts 20, 30A, 30B composed of a ferromagnetic material, and the magnetizable parts are arranged to be magnetized by a magnetic field formed by the superconducting coil 50 and to exert an attractive force for cancelling the Lorentz force acting on the superconducting coil 50. |
