PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel peptide having excellent inhibitory action to mitochondrial calpain which is effective in prevention or treatment of retinal photoreceptor cell degeneration.SOLUTION: There is provided a peptide having an amino acid sequence consisting of a specific sequence, or a peptide which has an amino acid sequence where one or several amino acids are substituted, deleted and/or added in an amino acid sequence consisting of a specific sequence, and has inhibitory action to mitochondrial calpain, wherein, adding a protein transduction domain to N-terminal of the peptide makes it suitable as an active ingredient for intravitreal injections or ophthalmic solutions for preventing or treating retinal photoreceptor cell degeneration. |
