PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium feeding device or the like capable of preventing a recording medium from being entangled in the rear side of a conveyor belt with a simple configuration.SOLUTION: A medium feeding device has a medium feeding mechanism having an endless conveyor belt 64 for conveying a long recording medium W in its bonded state to a front surface, a separation roller 67 disposed on the feeding direction downstream side of the medium feeding mechanism to peel off the recording medium W from the front surface of the conveyor belt 64, a take-up unit disposed on the feeding direction downstream side of the separation roller 67 to take up the peeled-off recording medium W, a light detection part 141 for emitting detection light from the side of a feeding path between the medium feeding mechanism and the separation roller 67 to detect presence of the recording medium W, and a control unit for driving taking-up of the take-up unit at least while the light detection part 141 detects "presence" of the recording medium W. The optical axis of the detection light of the light detection part 141 is inclined with respect to the surface of the feeding path between the medium feeding mechanism and the separation roller 67. |
