PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION FOR TREATMENT OF TUBERCULOSIS

The present invention relates to a composition for treating tuberculosis and, more specifically, to a pharmaceutical composition comprising AICAR, which is known as AMP-activated kinase (AMPK) modulator, as an active ingredient for treating tuberculosis. The composition comprising AICAR as the active ingredient of the present invention activates an autophagy phenomenon and production of active oxygen species and significantly reduces viability of Mycobacterium; thereby the composition can be used as a novel tuberculosis treating drug.
