[Also in Division C1] Stereospecific polymers, e.g. of α-olefins are prepared using a catalyst of active titanium trichloride (see Division C1) and organoaluminium compounds. Isotactic polypropylene is prepared using a catalyst of TiCl 3 and Al(C 2 H 5 ) 2 Cl in heptane, at 50‹ C. at a pressure of 385 mm. Hg. The polymerization was stopped by adding alcohol containing hydrochloric acid. |
