The energy storage (10) has a cell chamber in which an anode, a cathode and an electrolyte are arranged. The cell chamber is disconnected from an external environment by housing (12). A detection unit (18) of the housing is provided for detecting a component located within the housing or a reaction product of the component, during operation of the energy storage. The detection unit is arranged at junctions of the housing. The detection unit is formed from zirconium-alizarin s and iron thiocyanate. An independent claim is included for a method for manufacturing energy storage.
