PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus and a toner amount control method by which deterioration of image quality is reduced, while toner consumption is limited to a predetermined reference value or less.SOLUTION: A second calculation unit 52 calculates toner consumption for each of a plurality of pixel attributes on the basis of values of pixels in image data; and a toner consumption adjustment unit 61 selects, when the total toner consumption exceeds a predetermined reference value, any one of a first toner consumption reduction method of reducing toner consumption for all of the plurality of pixel attributes, and a second toner consumption reduction method of reducing toner consumption for only a predetermined pixel attribute that is a part of the plurality of pixel attributes, and reduces the total toner consumption to the predetermined reference value or less by the selected first toner consumption reduction method or the second toner consumption reduction method. |
