摘要 <p>A polarization-irrelevant tunable Fabry-Perot filter comprises two liquid crystal boxes (200, 300) and a drive circuit (52). Each of the two liquid crystal boxes (200, 300) comprises a first optic transparent material (8, 28), a liquid crystal material (14, 36), and a second optic transparent material (22, 42) sequentially mounted together. The second optic transparent material (22) of the first liquid crystal box (200) and the first optic transparent material (28) of the second liquid crystal box (300) are mounted together, and optic axes of the liquid crystal materials (14, 36) in the two liquid crystal boxes(200, 300) are perpendicular to each other and are arranged in a Fabry-Perot cavity. The drive circuit (52) is connected to the two liquid crystal boxes (200, 300) and a turning function of the filter is implemented by controlling effective refractive indexes of the liquid crystal materials (14, 36). The tunable Fabry-Perot filter is reasonable in design and has a tuning feature irrelevant to a polarization state of incident light, has characteristics of absence of mechanical movement parts, being stable and reliable in performance, low in cost, small in size, and easy for mounting and production, and may be applied in the fields of lasers, optical testing, optical fiber communications, biology, medical instruments, optical fiber sensor networks.</p>
