<p>Provided is a vehicle distance control device which senses a lead vehicle ahead of a host vehicle and controls the distance between the lead vehicle and the host vehicle, comprising: a distance acquisition means for setting one more reflecting sites of a lead vehicle to be a target and to acquire the distance between each target and a host vehicle; a target specification means for specifying the target with the closest distance among the distances; a differential value recording means for recording, for each target, the difference between the distance to the target with the closest distance which the target specification means has specified and the distance to another target; and a distance correction means for, if the host vehicle closes within a prescribed distance to the target which is specified as the closest distance by the target specification means before the target specification means specifies the target with the currently closest distance, subtracting the difference which is previously recorded for the target with the currently closest distance from the distance to the target with the currently closest distance, thereby correcting the distance between the target with the currently closest distance and the host vehicle.</p> |
