Since mobile devices capable of accessing the internet such as a smartphone have been distributed, a text transmission service using the internet such as Kakao Talk has been actively operated instead of SMS systems of mobile communication providers when a text message is transmitted or received. When a text message is transmitted by a mobile device using the internet in a method currently used by Kakao Talk, a service range can be limited because of traffic concentration on one company′s company, and a serve can be stopped when a problem occurs in the server. The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for sending and receiving a text message using an email address. According to the present invention, text messages are sent and received using a plurality of servers. As a result, text messages can be sent to and received from other people although problems occurs in some of servers, and a separate apparatus is not required if an existing mail server is used.
