PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alternative method of efficiently manufacturing lactic acids from carbohydrate-containing raw materials.SOLUTION: In a method of manufacturing lactic acids, carbohydrate-containing raw materials containing an indium compound, a tin compound and salts containing fluorine, and further, if required, one or several compounds selected from perfluoro alkylsulfonate of group 3 (including lanthanoid series), group 4, group 13 and group 15 in the periodic table, boric acid, organic boric acid and formaldehyde, and a derivative thereof are heat treated in a solvent containing water and/or alcohol. |
