PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition is provided to enhance the interaction of drugs using a medicinal herb extract and pseudoephedrine, thereby increasing an effect of treating allergic rhinitis and to reduce side effects of the drugs and the frequency of administration. CONSTITUTION: A sustained release pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating allergic rhinitis contains pseudoephedrine; a medicinal herb extract including Atractylodis rhizoma alba, Angelicae koreanae Radix, Ledebouriellae radix, Scutellariae Radix, and Atractylodes macrocephala Koidzumi; hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose as a release controller; and micro crystalline cellulose, soft silicic acid anhydride, and magnesium stearate as pharmaceutical excipients. A pharmaceutical formulation for preventing or treating allergic rhinitis contains the pharmaceutical composition. The pharmaceutical formulation is manufactured in the form selected among a tablet, a pill, a granule, and a capsule.
