Provided is an electrode for secondary battery, with minimized memory effect and improved durability and capacity. An electrode for primary or secondary battery comprising an electrode collector and electrode active substance layer containing an electrode active substance, wherein (particularly when the circuit is open) the electrode collector has, on the surface thereof, a substance that controls the local battery reaction which occurs between the electrode collector battery and the electrode active substance, or a layer comprising a substance that controls the local battery reaction which occurs between the electrode collector and the electrode active substance. In particular, it is preferable that the electrode collector does not contain, on the surface thereof, a substance having a base electrode potential greater than the electrode active substance. |
