A pump suction pipe 8 has its inlet 7 carried by a float 6 so as to be spaced from the bottom of the tank 2, to prevent entry of foreign matter 12. The tank may be a filling station or vehicle fuel tank, or may contain edible oil, wine or fruit juices. The pipe section 8 is flexible and sections 7 and 9 are rigid. The float arm 5 may operate a liquid level gauge 4. A member 13 on the float acts as a spacer. Alternatively, the pipe may extend below the float with its end closed to form the spacer, a side inlet (10), Fig. 2 (not shown), being provided. The assembly is mounted on a plate 3 secured to the tank.</p> |
