PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in-wheel motor drive device and an abnormal time treatment device for the in-wheel motor drive device capable of cancelling brake force generated at wheels due to a fault or the like, of the in-wheel motor drive device, and enabling travel thereafter.SOLUTION: The in-wheel motor drive device includes: a motor part 1 having a motor 6 for driving wheels 5, and a speed reducer 7; and a bearing 4 for wheels. A rotary wheel 8 of the bearing 4 for wheels and an output shaft 1a of the motor part 1 are coaxially arranged. The in-wheel motor drive device also includes torque cutoff and transmission means 55 capable of switching states between a torque cutoff state where a force transmission shaft 2 for transmitting driving force from the motor part 1 to the rotary wheel 8 of the bearing 4 for wheels is removed from one or both of the rotary wheel 8 of the bearing 4 for wheels and the output shaft 1a of the motor part 1, and where torque from the motor part 1 is cut off, and a torque transmission state where the force transmission shaft 2 is attached to the rotary wheel 8 and the output shaft 1a, and torque from the motor part 1 is transmitted. |
