The fuel cell system (1) is provided with a fuel cell (2), with an adjustable air feed device (7). The adjustable air feed device is provided to deliver air mass flow to a cathode chamber (4) of the fuel cell. The air mass flow sensors (9,18) are spaced apart from each other at the distance in the flow direction, such that the air gap is formed between the air mass flow sensors. The air mass flow sensor (9) is arranged upstream of the air feed device, and the air mass flow sensor (18) is arranged downstream of the air feed device. An independent claim is included for a method for supplying air to fuel cell with adjustable air feed device.
