The present invention relates to a lens meter for adjusting vertex distance which automatically adjusts a position of a lens supporter through VD measurement and a vertex distance adjusting method, wherein the lens meter comprises: a distance measuring unit which measures a distance from a measurement target lens; a control unit calculating a VD value based on distance measured from the distance measuring unit, comparing the calculated VD value with a predetermined VD value, and controlling a lens supporter movement so as to match the calculated value on the basis of difference with the determined VD value; and a position movement unit moving the lens supporter corresponding to the control by the control unit so as to match the calculated VD value with the determined VD value, and therefore a position of the lens supporter can be automatically adjusted by VD measurement and accurate measurement can be made regardless of lens shape and state.
