The device (100) has a support structure provided in a housing (110). An electrical energy storage cell (120) is attached to the support structure, and includes a relief port (126) that is closed in a normal operating state of the energy storage cell, where the port opens at certain positive pressure in the energy storage cell. A sealing device (140) is arranged in the housing such that a space volume (142) and another space volume (144) are separately formed in the housing, where the relief port opens exclusively in the latter space volume. An independent claim is also included for an electrical energy storage system.
