PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a difference in contrast between toner and a base of a recording medium with toner fixed thereon.SOLUTION: A fixing device 100 includes a fixing belt 112, a pressure roll 106, and a pad member 114 that supports the fixing belt 112 so that an exit-side peak pressure (peak load N2) of a recording sheet P is equal to or less than an entrance-side peak pressure (peak load N1) in a fixing nip NF. The exit-side peak pressure of the recording sheet P is equal to or less than the entrance-side peak pressure in the fixing nip NF, by means of the pad member 114, thereby reducing a frictional force μN2 to be applied to toner T when the recording sheet P with the melted toner T is discharged from an exit side of the fixing nip NF. The melted toner T is prevented from spreading on the recording sheet P, thereby preventing the base of the recording sheet P from being exposed, and reducing a difference in contrast between the toner T and the base of the recording sheet P with the toner T fixed thereon. |
