PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline battery having a ring-shaped gasket capable of preventing occurrence of internal short circuit even when an external shock is given.SOLUTION: The alkaline battery includes: a positive electrode 2 of a hollow cylindrical shape; a negative electrode 3 which is filled in the hollow portion of the positive electrode; and a cylindrical separator 4 disposed between the positive electrode 2 and the negative electrode 3 which are stored in a cylindrical battery case 1 with bottom together with electrolytic solution. The opening of the battery case 1 is sealed with a sealing plate 7 being interposed by a ring-shaped gasket 5. The sealing plate 7 has a hollow cylindrical protruding portion 7a and a peripheral edge 7d extending outward in a diameter direction from the edge of a side portion 7c of the protruding portion 7a. The edge 4a of the separator 4 is in close contact with the side portion 7c of the protruding portion 7a of the sealing plate 7. |
