MELAMINE PURIFICATION PROCESS

The invention relates to a process for purifying melamine of condensation products formed during the synthesis and separation of melamine by means of aqueous solution treatment. The melamine purification process involves treating an aqueous solution of unpurified melamine at a temperature of 110-170ºC for a period of 5-60 minutes in the presence of an alkali metal carbonate. The alkali metal carbonate used is sodium carbonate, calcium carbonate or a mixture thereof. Purified melamine production wastewater containing an alkali metal carbonate may also be used as a source of alkali metal carbonate. The technical result which can be achieved using the present invention is a reduction in the level of decomposition of melamine together with a high level of decomposition of condensation products.
