PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that prevents decrease in productivity with an arrangement in which jam handling is easily performed through simple control when a jam has occurred.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a transfer unit 4 for transferring toner images formed on photosensitive drums 21Y, 21M, 21C, and 21B onto a sheet, a fixing unit 6 for fixing the toner images on the sheet which have been transferred by the transfer unit 4, a registration adjustment unit 13 for conveying the sheet to the transfer unit 4, a pre-fixation conveyance unit 5 for conveying the sheet from the transfer unit 4 with the sheet placed on the fixing unit 6, a jam detection sensor 64 for transmitting a jam signal when it detects that the sheet has been jammed in the fixing unit 6, and a control unit 8 for performing control to stop the fixing unit 6 when it receives the jam signal while controlling the transfer unit 4 and the registration adjustment unit 13, to stack the sheet on which the toner images have been transferred by the transfer unit 4 and a sheet that is being conveyed toward the transfer unit 4 on the pre-fixation conveyance unit 5. |
