METHOD FOR SUBSTANTIALLY REMOVING DOT NOISE AND IMAGE PROCESSING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To substantially remove dot noise that is the remaining noise after some noise reduction processing in images of various modalities.SOLUTION: Noise in image data is reduced by: obtaining filtered data on the basis of the image data and a predetermined convolution kernel; obtaining difference data between the image data and the filtered data; determining squared difference data from the difference data; obtaining pseudo standard deviation data on the basis of the squared difference data and the predetermined convolution kernel; scaling the pseudo standard deviation data by a predetermined value; identifying pixels with noise in the image data by comparing the difference data and the scaled pseudo standard deviation data; and correcting the image data at the identified pixels.
